Benbow  

MISSIONARY M.E. BENBOW

Mrs. Benbow was saved under the leadership of Elder Daniel Bostick and Mother Lucinda Bostick, January 1912. She was an organizer of the Young People’s Department. She organized the Crusaders of the Church of God in Christ of Southeast Missouri and Western Illinois in August 1938. She served under one pastor for some 47 years.

     
Lena Hussey  

MOTHER LENA HUSSEY

Mother Hussey was saved in 1909 and for over forty-nine years worked in the Sunday School department.  The Delmar Temple Sunday School was organized under Elder C. Christmas.  On the morning of the organization the Lord gave Mother Hussey the Sunday School theme song The Fight Is On Oh Christian Soldiers.  In 1953 she was appointed teacher in the National Laboratory School. Later she became Assistant Dean in the State Laboratory School that she organized in 1956.  As an Evangelist she worked fervently and faithfully with our Mother Lucinda Bostick and others under the supervision of Bishop Daniel Bostick and Supervisor Ella Bronaugh.

ELDER THOMAS AND

MADAM M.A. THOMAS

Elder W.H. Thomas was saved in 1918.  He proved faithful and after two years was appointed State Superintendent of the Sunday School Department.  He worked untiringly for over 39 years.  He was also assistant pastor and served for 12 ½ years.  Elder Thomas presented the chorus with their first song, along with his wife, Mrs. M.A. Thomas, who loves singing and started the first choir in the church with four adults and four children in the state.  It grew to thousands.  She was the mother of all singers.  She was appointed Assistant National Director in the Sunday School in Memphis and was the composer of the National Sunday School Theme Song “We Will Never Say Fail”.
